What happens when you convert AMR to WAV
- Your browser can't read AMR files on its own, so the ffmpeg engine (about 31 MB) loads the first time and runs on your device.
- WAV is lossless, so nothing more is lost, but quality already removed by AMR compression doesn't come back. Files are much bigger.
- WAV files are saved as 16-bit audio, the same quality as a CD.
- WAV is uncompressed: about 10 MB per minute of stereo audio.
- Mono and stereo are kept (or choose either); surround sound is mixed down to stereo.
- Tags such as title, artist and cover art aren't copied yet.

Frequently asked questions
Is it safe to convert my files here?
Yes. Conversion happens entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server, so nobody else can see them.
Is it free? Are there limits?
It's completely free, with no sign-up, watermarks or daily limits. The only limit is your device's memory for very large files.
Can I convert many AMR files at once?
Yes. Drop as many files as you like; they're converted one after another and you can download them all as a ZIP.
Will converting AMR to WAV reduce quality?
No. WAV is lossless, so nothing more is lost. It can't restore detail that AMR compression already removed.
Why is the WAV file so much bigger than the AMR?
AMR uses lossy compression to keep files small. WAV stores the audio without that compression, so it needs more space.
Are tags and cover art kept?
Not yet. The sound is converted, but title, artist and album art aren't copied.
